Gold Award Residential 2018

Gaisce and the Joint Award Initiative/Duke of Edinburgh Award NI are delighted to partner on a Gold Award Residential taking place over 4 nights and 5 days from the 27th to the 31st of August 2018 in the beautiful Castle Saunderson Estate, Belturbet, Co. Cavan.

Places on the residential will be available to young people from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland who are registered for their Gaisce/JAI/DofE/DofE International Gold award. The core theme of the residential is the environment and making a better world in our own communities.

Over the course of the 5 days participants will receive training and certification in environmental leadership with our programme partners Venture Out, Leave No Trace and Ulster Wildlife as well as engage in fun evening activities together. The residential will cover the requirements of Gold Award for participants, in the North and South of Ireland and internationally.

Bronze Awards for Fire Cadets

Congratulations to all the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service Cadets from Cookstown and Newry who received their Bronze Awards at Cookstown Fire Station on Friday.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service has been offering the Joint Award Initiative programme for the last 2 years and it's fantastic to see the second cohort achieving their Awards.  It is also great to see some of those who have already achieved their Bronze Awards helping out as Leaders.

A big thank you to all the Leaders and families for their support in helping the Cadets to reach this stage.
